Authenticity is your best look

Why are women’s networking groups so vital?

Networking is not just a good way to land your next role or hand out business cards, it provides the space for people to collaborate on ideas and share tips such as new job openings or product hacks.

Turns out that networking also builds motivation for women to be more proactive about professional development and maybe also asking for that raise or promotion at work.

So why aren’t more women joining networking groups or attending networking events?

Much like that workplace training on fireplace safety or new office policy, networking can seem like one more thing you want to scrap from your to-do list. It can feel like a waste of time you would rather spend working or developing something more meaningful like a new product. If the thought of meeting people you hardly know for 2 hours on a weekday sounds like torture, then it might explain why you’re saying “hard pass”

Networking events can also trigger social anxiety. Seriously, what do we talk about? how many nervous laughs can we wash down over cocktails and appetizers? If you do make a connection at these events, it typically ends with a promise to grab lunch or coffee at an undetermined future date that rarely materializes.

Networking done mindfully

Networking is something you can’t afford to leave out of your development strategy and Upswing Women provides the platform for real women to build meaningful connections. This starts with women who can show up as their best, whole, and authentic selves.
